QUERY How to upload or export your contacts/ address book in MemberSMS. RESOLUTION If you add single groups and contacts to your groups you will use the 'New Group' and 'New Contact' buttons on the 'Addresses' tab on MemberSMS. It is however possible to upload contacts to your address book from a CSV (comma seperated) file. To create a CSV file open Microsoft Excel. Firstly it is necessary to identify the data which will be contained in each column by giving it a heading. The correct headings and available options are: Mobile, FName, SName, Title, Group and Custom. Of these only Mobile is required, the rest are optional. If you set your cells A1 to FName, B1 to SName, C1 to Mobile, D1 to Group and E1 to Custom, it means that you will have to put only the first names in column A, surnames in column B, mobile (cellphone) numbers in column C, group names in column D, and the custom entries in column E. The mobile numbers should be added in the International format. e.g. for the UK: 447722123456. You may also enter numbers in the local format: 07722123456 if you set the default country prefix on the Options tab. There should be no spaces when entering numbers. When you save this file set the file type to 'Comma Seperated (*.csv)' - instead of the default Excel (*.xls) filetype. To upload this file to MemberSMS switch to the Addresses tab, and make sure that you have at least 1 group created. Click on Upload, click Browse to select your file, set the delimiter to Comma, select the other appropriate options and the groups that data could be uploaded to and then click OK. If the data is uploaded and you specified a group name for a group which was already created the contacts will be uploaded to that group. If the group is not created but yet but you selected the option to 'create a group automatically' all groups will be created so the contacts are upload to the appropriate groups. If you wish to export your whole address book or a particular group(s) choose the Export button. You are able to select which groups should be exported, and if the group association should be included in the exported CSV file (with the name of the group next to each contact).
